This Spring brought the usual increase of young’uns born on the farm. Our two female goats had three kids, one male (Peter), two females (Gloria and Gratia). The price of young Angus calves has tripled over the last few years, so instead of replacing our older cows when processed with six-eight month olds, we got a new born Jersey calf named Herbie. He came to us at 3 days old and is doing great. He needs a two quart bottle twice a day, and is the gentlest creature God has made. We will be looking to give him some companions as the summer proceeds. Right now, our Billy Goat, Pascal, is keeping him company.
